LEED Contributions

Our products can contribute to the following credits within the Materials and Resources (MR) category.

LEED MR Credit 2: Construction Waste Management

This credit intends to divert construction and demolition debris from disposal in landfills and incineration facilities. Redirect recyclable recovered resources back to the manufacturing process and reusable materials to appropriate sites. Our gypsum panel products can be ground and used as soil amendments, treatments and as fertilizers. Numerous universities have conducted studies detailing the agricultural benefits of gypsum. For more information we recommend you contact the agricultural department of your state university.

For the greatest environmental impact, we offer custom ordering services for those interested in reducing the amount of construction waste via source control. For larger projects we can produce custom length products that can dramatically reduce waste. Please contact one of our sales representatives for more information. (minimum order quantities are applicable)

LEED MR Credit 4: Recycled Content

This credit intends to increase demand for building products that incorporate recycled content materials, thereby reducing impacts resulting from extraction and processing of virgin materials. For recycled content percentages of our products please see our Product Guide for LEED.

LEED MR Credit 5: Regional Materials

This credit intends to increase demand for building materials and products that are extracted and manufactured within the region, thereby supporting the use of indigenous resources and reducing the environmental impacts resulting from transportation. For information regarding the markets within 500 miles of our manufacturing facilities see our Regional Manufacturing Facility Maps below.

Our products can contribute to the following credit within the Indoor Environmental Quality (IEQ) category.

LEED IEQ Credit 4.6: Low-Emitting Materials - Ceiling and Wall Systems (SCHOOLS ONLY)

This credit intends to reduce the quantity of indoor air contaminants that are odorous, irritating, and/or harmful to the comfort and well-being of installers and occupants. Our full line of interior gypsum wallboard products has acheived the GREENGUARD Children and Schools(sm) status. This certification program complies with the State of California’s Department of Health Services Standard Practice (CA Section 01350) for testing chemical emissions from building products used in schools. Please visit our GREENGUARD Certification reference area for more information.
