Leed Program

American Gypsum is absolutely committed to green building practices. As part of that commitment we participate in the LEED program as promoted by the U.S. Green Building Council. The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building System™ is the nationally accepted benchmark for the design, construction, and operation of high performance green buildings. Click here to learn more about our LEED program. Additionally, you can find a wealth of information related to the LEED program at www.usgbc.org.

Mold Resistant

Gypsum board does not generate or support the growth of mold when it is properly transported, stored, handled, installed, and maintained. However, mold spores are present everywhere and when conditions are favorable, mold can grow on practically any surface. Observing these guidelines will help minimize the potential for mold growth on gypsum board. Our M-Bloc™ Shaft Liner product has been developed to minimize the potential for growth of mold and mildew. Click here for more information.

Green Practices

American Gypsum is dedicated to environmental responsibility. We manage our business in accordance with sound environmental principles. Additionally, we are committed to the expansion and execution of sustainable green building policies, standards, and practices.

Our commitment is reflected in everything we do. Every aspect of our various product lines, from the initial product conception through distribution, is evaluated to ensure we remain true to our commitment. The front and back papers of our drywall products are produced from 100% recycled paper at our sister company’s state-of-the-art paper mill in Lawton, OK. Waste wallboard and trimmings from paper rolls are recycled back into our manufacturing process. American Gypsum’s newest high-speed, high-efficiency plant uses byproduct (synthetic) gypsum allows American Gypsum to utilize over 800,000 tons of material that would otherwise go into landfills.

Our commitment goes above and beyond our products. We work tirelessly to improve the efficiency of our state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities. Our entire organization is focused on improving our manufacturing facilities and processes. These efforts afford us the opportunity to be our customers’ preferred, low-cost supplier while lowering energy consumption. As a result, we have dramatically reduced our overall carbon footprint.

At American Gypsum, we believe that environmental stewardship and business success are not mutually exclusive goals. Truly successful companies can find success while lessening their impact upon our environment.

If you have an idea on how we can make our products more environmentally friendly we would love to hear from you, email us at green@americangypsum.com.
